Collecting cinammon garnets, Madison Co., N.C.
November 15, 2003Lades and I were headed to Woods Creek this morning to hunt sapphires, we decided it was to cold out for that , I suggested we hunt down a site I have trying to get access to for a few years now, we located the owner of the property and were granted permission to hunt, this is a cinammon garnet location in Madison County, other locations I have collected at in this area produce light tan mostly weathered garnets, the site we located had never been hunted, 99% of the garnets we found were gem grade, we collected numerous specimens with gem garnets and perfect quartz crystals growing together.
